PORTLAND, OR — VISUAL / UX / BRAND DESIGN
Storytelling, in all forms, is the reason I get up in the morning.
Hi! I’m Dave — a designer with 20+ years of experience helping brands find the human story at the heart of what they do best. Let's make something worth remembering.

DISCIPLINES

WHAT I DO
Whether you need a designer, a collaborator, or a fresh set of eyes.
01
Brand & Visual Identity
You have something worth believing in. I'll help you build a visual language that makes other people believe in it too — from the first logo sketch to a full brand system.
Logo design & wordmarks
Brand guidelines & systems
Art direction & visual language
Marketing & campaign design
02
UX & Product Design
Great UX is invisible. People don’t notice it, they just feel like things work. I build digital products and experiences that get out of the way, and let human intuition do its thing.
Wireframes & prototypes
Design systems & component libraries
Usability audits & redesigns
03
Design Direction & Consulting
Some teams don't need another set of hands. They need someone who's seen the whole thing before. I love jumping in and helping shape the creative direction, and build practices that actually last.
Embedded design lead
Design team mentorship
Creative direction for dev teams
Design process & workflow consulting
04
Traditional Work, Photography
and Illlustration
Not everything lives on a screen. I design across print, packaging, and brand systems with the same care I bring to digital — work that feels considered, not templated.
Experiential & trade show design
Print & marketing collateral
Packaging and label design
Illustration & photography (as needed)
HOW I WORK
Let’s make something.
Here’s what it looks like.
01
We talk.
I want to hear about your design challenge, and what you’re hoping to build. I’ll ask you questions. We go from there.
02
I scope it.
You’ll get a straight read on what the work actually involves. Timeline, cost, what I need from you. Simple as I can make it.
03
We build it together.
Every collaboration is a partnership. We build on what's working, share early and often, and keep you in the loop throughout.
DIGITAL WORK
Here’s what I’ve
been building.
Leatherman: Custom Experience Suite
Reimagined how Leatherman's customers configure, gift, and personalize their gear online — building three interconnected digital experiences that made a 100-year-old product feel as personal as the people carrying it.
Herizons Coaching & Consulting
Herizons was ready to rethink her look and feel, and as a close friend, I jumped at the chance to help her shape it. There’s something special about getting to work on a brand for someone you already know and believe in.
Coin Meter
As new leadership stepped in, Coin Meter saw an opportunity to evolve — not just the visuals, but the voice behind the brand. I helped bring both into alignment with where the company was headed next.
Leatherman: Persona Experience
Leatherman users come in all shapes and sizes. But if you’ve never owned a Leatherman before, choosing the right tool for your lifestyle might feel daunting. The Persona experience was built to help you on your tool-finding journey.
Akuous
At CG Life, I worked on the design and production team for a new website for Akuous, a genetic medicine company developing gene therapies to restore and preserve hearing — translating complex science into a clear, human experience for patients, clinicians, and investors.
Esperoct
On the NovoMedLink site for Esperoct, a hemophilia treatment, I led UX, visual design for a persona experience. The goal was to show healthcare professionals the range of real people who use it, living active lives safely.
Sogroya
On the NovoMedLink site for Sogroya, a growth hormone treatment, I led UX, visual design, user flow, and production for a patient-specific dosage calculator within an existing templated system; proof that guardrails aren't always a bad thing.
traditional work
Not everything lives
on a screen.
Google Cloud (GDC Festival of Gaming)
Part of the design team (GPJ) behind Google Cloud's presence at GDC's Festival of Gaming, working on booth design and wayfinding signage.
Google Cloud (NAB Show 2026)
Collaborated on the team (GPJ) behind Google Cloud’s NAB Show 2026 booth, shaping the space and guiding attendee flow through signage.
The Hollywood Theatre
It's been an honor to support the Hollywood Theatre's mission — from pre-screening slides and digital annual reports to capital campaign materials, airport theatre marquees, and the exterior timeline artwork that lines the building.
Leatherman: Printed Materials
My work at Leatherman spanned campaign materials, illustration and product photography, done in close collaboration with engineering, product, and outside agency teams.
Leatherman: Packaging Update
At Leatherman Tools, I helped shape the brand's print presence, including leading design and marketing for the 2019 product packaging redesign.
Logan’s Roadhouse
Brought Logan’s Roadhouse’s brand to life across nearly every physical touchpoint, from menus and gift cards to crayons, to-go bags, and store signage.
Logos and Wordmarks
Designed logos and wordmarks for brands across industries, from startups to established companies looking to redefine their identity.
about dave
Two decades in.
Still curious on day one.
I've worked with lifestyle brands, cultural organizations, and small businesses
that care deeply about how they show up in the world. My approach is simple: listen first, design second, and never lose sight of the person on the other
side of the screen.
